Web accessibility isn’t a "nice to have" — it’s an essential part of our ethical work to ensure our communities can access vital information.

This deep-dive workshop building on a popular ONA21 session will help identify key areas where organizations may be inadvertently leaving out — or even misleading — members of the disability community, teach concrete steps to take, identify needed process changes and help attendees make the case for updating culture and practices in their home newsrooms.

This session is designed for:

  • People who need to know where to start now with making their news products more accessible
  • Newsroom leaders looking to build a culture and practice around equity in accessibility for all members of their community
  • Anyone interested in better serving segments of the community who have been historically ignored
