About ONA Insights

For the latest ONA Insights event, we’re hosting two days of in-depth conversations on emerging technology and immersive journalism on July 29-30. Hear from journalism innovators on how they’re experimenting with new technology, tech leaders on what new trends they’re most excited about and reporters on how they’ve incorporated new tech into their work. We’ll discuss where immersive journalism is heading, the ethics of working with emerging tech, how newsrooms can harness the power of AI to improve their work, and more.

The live event happens July 29-30 from 12-3:30 p.m. EDT/16:00-19:30 UTC each day. Registered attendees will have access to archived content after the event.

You’ll walk away with:

  • Practical guidance and resources that will help you make decisions around ethics in emerging tech
  • Inspiration for new projects and a look at emerging tech trends in journalism
  • Ideas for experimenting in your storytelling – no matter what the size of your newsroom or what you’re covering

This event has a “name your own price” model. In other words, you have the opportunity to pay what you think is fair. For guidance, we valued the live event at $99 USD, but your mileage may vary. ONA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, meaning any contributions you give help us put on events like this, as well as our other incredible events and programs throughout the year. Will sessions be recorded and archived?

All sessions were recorded and archived on each session page, along with any resources from the presenters. Once you’ve registered, you can view the session on demand by clicking on “schedule” and then on the topic of your choice.

Those who participated live were able to sign in to a chat feature to share thoughts and ideas with other participants, as well as pose questions to the presenters.

I’m having issues seeing or hearing the content.

For basic requirements and technical issues, we’ve created a troubleshooting and support page here. If they don’t work, you can reach out through the support chat bubble in the lower right corner of your screen.

Do you have group registration?

Since this event is name your own price, we do not have a group registration system set up. To keep transactions simple, most groups are electing to have one person pay the total registration price for the entire group, then have other members of the group register for free.

I can’t figure out my account login information. Can you help?

Since we’re implementing an upgraded checkout process, your account for ONA Insights is unique, and not tied to your membership or Online Journalism Awards account. We’re working on ways to consolidate these, but for now, you’ll need to login with the email and password created when you purchased your ONA Insights tickets.

Will I be on camera?

No, for this event, only the presenters will be on camera. You can participate in the live chat to interact with other participants and ask speaker questions. If we add any networking components that encourage camera use, we’ll list that clearly so you can choose whether to opt in.

All start times were in Eastern Daylight Time (UTC-4).
