Ambreen Ali is a freelance journalist based in Hopewell, N.J., and the project manager for the New Jersey Diverse Sources Database, an initiative of the Center for Cooperative Media at Montclair State University that aims to make Garden State news coverage more inclusive and reflective of its diverse communities. She also oversees the Center's Loved & Lost project, which commemorates victims of COVID-19. In her freelance work, she writes primarily about the technology and tech policy for numerous publications including The Washington Post, Bloomberg, AFP, The Wire and Fortune. She began her reporting career in Washington, D.C., as a Congressional reporter for CQ Roll Call and holds a master's degree in new media journalism from Northwestern University.
